Speed Up Your Website & Core Web Vitals: 7 Steps

Why speed matters
Site speed affects whether visitors stay or leave. Google measures page experience through Core Web Vitals, which relate to how fast content appears, layout stability and responsiveness; learn more at web.dev.
1. Measure first
Start by measuring with PageSpeed Insights and the Core Web Vitals report in Search Console, and record the numbers so you can see the effect of each change.
2. Compress images
Images are the biggest cause of slow sites. Use modern formats like WebP, set image dimensions and lazy-load images below the fold.
3. Reduce CSS and JavaScript
Remove unused code, combine and minify files, and defer non-essential scripts so they do not block rendering.
4. Good hosting and a CDN
Weak hosting slows everything. Choose reliable hosting and use a CDN to serve files from the server closest to the visitor.
5. Caching and compression
Enable caching and Gzip or Brotli compression to shrink transferred files and speed up repeat visits.
6. Beware of heavy plugins
On WordPress, many plugins slow the site, so keep them few. If you are choosing a platform, read WordPress or React?.
